The victims who numbered a dozen were elderly people aged from 74 to 100 years who were at an institutional care for the elderly where the convict was an employee.
The elderly victims are reported to suffer from memory loss and are severe disability.
The acts were mainly oral sexual contact and happened at the beds occupied by the elderly victims and in bathrooms, among other places.
The court stated that in principle the man should have been convicted for 12 years. However, the sentence was reduced to nine years since the man helped to solve the crimes.
In addition, the man was sentenced for two acts of forced sexual acts. The court pointed out that the acts were planned and not spontaneous.
News agency Xinhua adds: Helena Monttinen, unit director at the Finnish National Supervisory Authority of Welfare and Health-Valvira, told the Finnish language daily Turun Sanomat that at the moment it is difficult to say whether the supervision over the elderly care should be tightened or changed.
She emphasised that elderly care organisations should take main responsibility for supervision over elderly care services.
