The police have released one of the two teenagers detained on suspicion of involvement in the Kempele rape incident.

According to the police, interrogation revealed that the teenagers had nothing to do with the case, nor did he have anything to do with the victim.

Another suspect, a 17-year-old man, remains detained. According to the police, he has denied any wrongdoing. The possibility of arresting him will be decided tomorrow.

The police have questioned both the detained man and the victim on Wednesday. According to the police, the suspect and victim knew each other, excluding the possibility of a random attack by a stranger.

There is little chance of a third person being involved in the case, which would cast doubt on the attack, the police said.

The police announced that they would not reveal any further details about the investigation at this stage. The police have not said which country the suspect is from or whether he is a refugee.

MTV on Tuesday reported that the detained teenagers were refugees from Afghanistan.

The suspected crime took place along Kempele’s Asematie late Monday night.

The two young men aged 15 and 17 were detained the same night in suspicion of aggravated rape and aggravated child abuse. According to Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV sources, the arrested suspects were asylum seekers from Afghanistan.

The arrests were made after the police dog patrol had followed the trail of the suspects to an apartment where the two suspects were found.
