The Oulu District Court on Monday sentenced two men each to five years imprisonment for abusing a 15-year-old girl sexually at Rajakylä in Oulu.

The five-year sentences were handed down for aggravated rape and aggravated child sexual abuse.

The case was kept largely a secret at the request of the girl. However, as the writ of summons be-came public, only the girl's name was kept confidential.

According to the writ of summons, the men saw the girl on her bike on the road, and went to walk beside her.

Suddenly, one of the men grabbed the girl's hair and dragged her into the woods, and raped her at knifepoint.

There were no witnesses to the crime and both the men denied the allegations.

One of the men admitted to the rape during interrogation, but later recanted his confession.

The trial saw the testimonies of the victim and the two men, as well as personal evidence.

Based on the testimony and the evidence, the court judged the men guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

In addition to imprisonment, the convicts aged 34 and 24, were sentenced to pay compensation to the victim.

They must jointly pay the girl €8,000. The men have reportedly been detained since August, and passed directly from court to prison to begin their sentences.
