FTimes-STT Report, Jan 5

The Central-Finland district court on Monday sentenced a 30-year-old woman to nine years and six months in jail for killing her spouse.

The woman killed her disabled common-law husband in the spring by shooting him with a hunting arrow from a compound bow in Muurame. The husband was lying in bed.

According to the court, Iina-Maarit Räty was able to call for help or go to a neighbour’s, but she didn’t act until the following morning.

The court stated that the woman must have considered that the man’s death was quite probable.

The woman said she and her husband had fought for months, and they had already decided to divorce. She also disputed the timeline of the incident.

According to the psychological test report, the woman was reckless and understood the consequences of her actions.
