The Turku Court of Appeal on Wednesday overturned earlier judgement related to a bribery case involving the Patria Croatian export project.

The court dismissed all the charges due to lack of evidence.

According to the court, the prosecutor’s key evidence was based on individual written evidence such as email and text message correspondence.

The foreigners who sent and received the messages were not consulted personally regarding the case.

The District Court of Kanta-Häme had sentenced about a year ago two former Patria employees with aggravated bribery. The men were sentenced to a year and eight months of conditional imprisonment.

The court also nullified the corporate fine amounting to 297,000 euros which had been slapped on Patria Land Services Oy.

Furthermore, the state was ordered to compensate Patria for legal costs and the prolonged trial.

The suspected bribery incidents were alleged to have taken place in 2005-2008.
