Atmospheric pressure and humidity measuring devices developed by the Finnish Mete-orological Institute (FMI) will also be carried in the probe heading to Mars.
ExoMars is a joint Mars programme between the ESA and Russia's Roscosmos. It con-sists of a mother vessel orbiting Mars and a Schiaparelli landing module to the surface.
The objective of ExoMars is to examine, among other things, the presence of methane on Mars.
According to the FMI, an indisputable discovery of methane would signal either primi-tive organic activity or geological activity.
The probe will be launched toward Mars on March 14, if weather conditions at the launch site in Baikonur, Kazakhstan are favourable. The trip to Mars will take about seven months.
