FTimes-Xinhua Report, Apr 14

Two people died and seven others were injured as a result of a four-vehicle pileup in Leppävirta, eastern Finland, on Wednesday afternoon, local media reported.

Pekka Kaartinen, fire chief on duty from the North Savo Rescue Department, told the Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat that the accident occurred when one of the cars suddenly drove onto the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming car.

The other two cars crashed head on, when they tried to stay away from the first collision.

There were nine adults in the four passenger cars, two of them were found dead, and seven others were seriously wounded and were hospitalized.

The road condition was good when the tragedy occurred, according to Kaartinen.
