According to the newspaper, Czech prostitutes work in almost all major cities in Finland and many smaller communities as well.

About 100 to 200 prostitutes work daily in Helsinki and about 40 of them are from the Czech Republic, said Sergeant Kenneth Eriksson from the Criminal Investigation Department of the police.

The report, however, indicated that the background of the sex workers do not show any signs of human trafficking.

The police’s view is that many Czech women are doing sex trade independently.

Some of them work in organised arrangements, but none appear to be forced into the work.

A person representing the organisation supporting the Czech sex workers was interviewed by the newspaper and believes the police estimates are credible.
