“They have, for example, spread jihadist propaganda,” said Supo communication manager Jyri Rantala.
The law allows the police to keep a register of persons whose activities may be dangerous to so-ciety. Mere political or religious beliefs are not considered criteria for the register.
The Swedish security police Säpo are authorised to keep a register of persons who have ex-pressed sympathy for terrorist organisations such as Isis.
Säpo invited the Data Protection Supervisor (DPS) to determine whether it was legal to keep a register of suspected terrorist supporters based on private data.
The Swedish DPS did not consider terrorist sympathies to meet the definition of sensitive private information.
