The second satellite built by Finnish students is going to space this year, announced Aalto University on Thursday.
Finland’s first student-built satellite, Aalto-1, will be followed by the Aalto-2.
The satellite will be sent to the Netherlands next week for inspection and will be launched into space from the International Space Station by the United States at the end of the year.
The satellite is participating in the international QB50 mission, the purpose of which is to provide information on the thermosphere boundary layer between the earth’s atmosphere and space.
Dozens of students from various institutions at Aalto University have participated in designing and construction of the satellite.
