FTimes- STT Report, July 16

Nearly a hundred reports of people pretending to be police officers have been reported in a year, said the National Police Board.

The majority cases of fake police officers have been reported in the capital city region.

However, such cases have also been reported in Central Finland, Eastern Finland, Häme as well in the areas under Oulu police.

The police stressed that they never ask for bank card codes or codes for smart devices such as phones or computers.

Closing down bank or debit card does not fall under the jurisdiction of police, said the police in a statement.

If one suspects that he or she has been dealing with a fake police officer, the person should contact the police station which the fake police officer said to have been stationed.

A person should call the emergency centre if one doubts the authenticity of the police patrol at the door step.
