The department also plans to send cleaning patrols along the shores.

The plastic scraps found along the Helsinki’s seashores probably came from filling the sea with huge rocks at Länsisatama and contains, among other things, plastic tubing and plastic fibre, according to the department.

The best way of informing the department about debris along the shore is by marking the map on the Public Works’ website: http://www.hkr.hel.fi/palaute, or by calling the Public Works Customer Services at 09-310-39-000.
