The Accident Investigation Board has found that a demanding shooting exercise for a group which had little shooting training exercise was behind the death of a conscript during a night time shooting exercise at Syndalen military shooting area in December last year.
According to the Board, a light amplifier was being used at the time, which was not a routine case.
Additionally, the shooting patrol was brought too closely to the victim's patrol group by the placement of targets.
The glowing light on the fighter's helmet was also reminiscent of one of the reflective target lines.
