The District Court of Southwest Finland on Friday fined an animal activist 50-day unit fine following a case which came to light after Yle investigative programme MOT obtained filmed material from an abattoir.
The 33-year old man will pay 350 euros of the fine from his income.
The programme obtained material from activists who secretly filmed the conditions at the abattoir.
The film showed how for instance the animals were slaughtered at the abattoir.
The court ruled that the man was complicit of breaching public peace, illicit observation and eavesdropping.
The court, however, stated that the prosecutor was unable to prove that the man was involved in the act at the abattoir.
Therefore, there was no evidence as to whom planned, prepared and executed the act.
