Tue, 01 Nov, 2016 12:00:54 AM FTimes- STT Report, Nov 1 File Photo Lehtikuva The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) on Monday announced that the accommodation capacity for refugees at the reception centres will be reduced by approximately 1,800 beds.
The reductions will be mainly by the end of April 2017, said the Immigration Service in a statement.
Those in charge of the reception centres will carry out employee cooperation negotiations with the staff at the centres.
The already announced reductions of accommodation places at reception centres will be expanded, as the Finnish Immigration Service estimates that the need will decrease noticeably next year.
It is expensive to maintain unnecessary accommodation capacity and this is why the goal is to keep the number of beds as close to the real demand as possible at all times.
There were approximately 20,700 beds at the reception centres at the time of the announcement on Monday.
The number of beds will be reduced already in the autumn and spring by approximately 9,000 when the reductions announced earlier this spring and autumn will come into force.
