Inmates of the Kerava prison will be shifted elsewhere since inspection revealed that the building had deficiencies related to fire safety.
The matter was announced by Criminal Sanctions Agency (Rise) on Friday.
The decision to suspend operations at the main building was made by fire authorities following an inspection conducted last week.
The main building acts a closed prison facility which can house up to 95 prisoners. The prisoners will be transferred to other facilities within a month.
The main building was completed in 1891, and the East wing was completed in 1931. Both the buildings were renovated in 1982.
