Asylum seekers lodged a number of crime reports with the police against the refugees at the reception centres, reported the Finnish language newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

In an interview with the newspaper, Detective Superintendent Tero Haapala of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said there are many reports filed by the refugees against each other. Most of the reports involve war crimes or terrorist connections.

Only a few reports have led to pre-trial investigations.

According to Haapala, at the moment the police are handling only 10 to 20 cases, of which some are only preliminary investigations.

Some of the accusations are groundless. Some of them are so vague that the police can find no further information.
