Turku-based ship building company STX Finland has received financial support after ot had announced that it was in need of funding building cruise ships.
 
According to MTV, STX Finland’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Jari Anttila told Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat that the construction works may start soon. 
 
The funding would help the company construct its third ship, although the information was neither confirmed nor dismissed by Anttila.
 
STX Finland is currently building two ships for German shipping company TUI Cruises.
 
The financial details on the funding package was not immediately available. 
 
On September 16, the Finnish branch of shipbuilding company STX announced the closing of operations at the Rauma shipyard, one of the major shipyards in Finland, leaving hundreds of workers unemployed.
 
The firm's operation and orders are scheduled to be shifted to Turku, another shipyard of STX Finland.
