In July, the inflation was pushed up most from the year before by rent increases and higher retail prices of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages.
The rise in consumer prices was curbed most in July by the fallen prices of clothes, international air transport, owner-occupied dwelling and vegetables. From June to July, consumer prices fell by 0.1 percentage points, the primary data show.
According to the data on the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, the rate of inflation in the euro area slowed down to 0.4 per cent in July from 0.5 per cent in June.
The inflation for Finland calculated in the same manner was 1.0 per cent in July.
The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices does not include owner-occupancy, games of chance, interests on consumption and other credits, fire insurance on owner-occupied dwellings or the vehicle tax.
The year-on-year change in the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices at Constant Taxes was 0.5 per cent in July, according to the statistics.
The year-on-year change in the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices stood at 1.0 per cent in July and that in the Index at Constant Taxes measuring market inflation at 0.5 per cent.
Over 12 months, the combined raising impact on consumer prices from changes in commodity tax rates was thus 0.5 percentage points.
The month-on-month change in both the Harmonised Index and the Index of Consumer Prices at Constant Taxes was -0.1 per cent in July with no changes in tax rates.
