The national flag carrier authority on Monday reached an agreement with its pilots regarding a savings package which will help the airline to save EUR 17 million annually.
The agreement will also help the pilots avoid any dismissal for two years. Finnish Pilots’ Association (SLL) made the agreement which will be applicable for about 700 pilots.
The savings will accumulate mainly in salaries, wages and working hours. SLL President Sami Rolig says they wanted to ensure that members of the union stay employed.
The saved amount will not be sourced from the pilots’ pay from the bag but will be part of the accumulated efficiency improvements and productivity gains.
Finnair President and CEO Pekka Vauramo appreciated the pilots for the agreement.
A large part of the savings will be generated through rapid schedule, which is very important for the airline to face the current situation.
As part of the agreement Finnair will begin to prepare a pilots’ incentive programme.
