The Finnish language daily Iltalehti on Saturday reported that Nokia paid Euro 43 million in a junk sale with the Russian telecom operator Megafon.
The newspaper characterised the sale as elusive.
Nokia acquired Ericsson mobile phone network equipment from Megafon in 2005-2006. The equipment was transported to Finland and dismantled. The sale was never made public.
Nokia in a statement emphasised that the replacement of old equipment through new vendor solutions is a completely normal network business practice.
“It is also common that new customer agreements are signed and are only announced some time after the sales,” the company statement said.
