Helsinki, December 17 – Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu is scheduled to visit Finland on Wednesday to discuss a host of issues, including the process of Turkey’s inclusion in the European Union with his Finnish counterpart Erkki Tuomioja, a foreign ministry communiqué said.

Both the foreign ministers are also expected to discuss security policy issues of current interest, crisis management, enhancement of the status of women, the International Arms Trade Treaty and situation in Syria, the Middle East and Afghanistan, said the statement issued on Monday.  

The foreign ministers will also discuss the future operations of the Friends of Mediation group, initiated by Finland and Turkey. The purpose of the group is to enhance cooperation in mediation between active states, international organisations and NGOs.

While in Helsinki, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu will also meet President Sauli Niinistö, Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen, Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb, Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Eero Heinäluoma, and chair of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee Timo Soini among others.
