The incumbent president of the left alliance party Vasemmistoliitto, Paavo Arhinmäki will continue his leadership for another term as the party councillors on Saturday unanimously elected him again as the party chair.
Although there was no competition for the president post, the party had to go for voting to elect the vice presidents and secretary of the new committee during the council held in Tampere.
A total of five candidates contested for the secretary post this year, party sources said.
Marko Varajärvi from Kemi has been elected the secretary while Aino-Kaisa Pekonen, Sari Moisanen and Kalle Hyötynen have been elected as the first, second and third vice presidents.
