Finland will send the International Coastal Jaeger Unit from the Uusimaa Brigade to the NATO Response Force (NRF) readiness in 2015.
The group which is comprised mainly of reservists differs from previous units on standby due to the fact that it is comprised of large number of reservists.
Only 20 soldiers in the 290-strong group are part of the permanent staff.
Finland has participated in NRF readiness since 2012. Dispatching a crisis management unit, however, requires a separate national decision.
The unit is tailor made for offensive tasks and is able to operate in crisis management, evacuation operations and protection of humanitarian aid convoys.
The Response Forces standby duty lasts for whole of 2015.
