Photo – Str / Lehtikuva. The chair of Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party), Timo Soini, believes the government-basis will be more functional without the small parties.
Speaking after a meeting with the chair of Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party), Juha Sipilä, the Finns party leader said a three-party basis would be the best possible in forming the government.
Soini said his view on the matter has not changed after the elections; however, the solution depends on the leader of the negotiations.
Soini refused to take a side on which party between the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) and the Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) he would prefer to partner with in the government.
After meeting with Sipilä, the chair of SDP, Antti Rinne, like Soini said it would seem sensible that the government should be comprised of at least three major parties.

The Vihreä liitto (Green League) would have difficulties fitting in the government, if the Finns Party becomes part of the government, said Ville Niinistö, the chief of the Green League.
After holding the meeting with Sipilä, Niinistö said the Greens and the Finns Party have different positions, among other things, on the human rights issue and the climate policy.
Niinistö said personally he regards it very unlikely that values of the Greens and the Finns Party are compatible.
