Ville Niinistö is set to continue as the chair of the Vihreä Liitto (Green League) after he was elected unopposed on Friday.

Niinistö is the only Green party leader who has been chosen to lead the party for a third term.

The Greens party council began in Oulu on Friday where the party councillors will elect the party secretary and other executive committee leaders on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion Niinistö expressed concern over the planned cuts in education terming it a detriment to realisation of equality since all will not be able to enjoy good education despite one's family background.

"All promised that no cuts will be made on education. Cuts on children education will cause more inequality and lead to costs when dropping out of more schools become widespread," Niinistö said.

He said the government could still scrap the planned cuts on education.

According to Niinistö, the government's work-life policies will not propel the country forward.
The government policies, according to Niinistö, are too one-sided and favoured towards confederation of Finnish Industries (EK).

According to Niinistö, the government has only proposed to increase working hours for those who already have jobs.
