The possible price increase is due to the weakening of the euro against the dollar.
The Air Force is renewing seven Hawk Mk 51 jets that have been taken out of service. Since 2006, replacing the machines has been estimated to cost 15.2 million euros.
Any increase in costs can only be known as planning progresses.
The Defence Forces has requested an offer for the equipment and installation from Patria Aviation.
The Hawks are expected to be back in the sky between 2017 and 2019.
The modernisation of the old machines will increase the number of available flight hours, which has fallen since a fatal accident in 2013 in Perho destroyed two jets.
The Hawks in operation now are scheduled to fly in Finland until 2036.
