The expelled Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) leader Sebastian Tynkkynen on Sunday was re-elected the chair of the party’s youth wing.
Tynkkynen won the vote 42 in favour against 22 while four voters abstained.
The Finns Party expelled its third vice chair Tynkkynen on October 23 on charge of breaching discipline as he had published the names of the signatories to an online petition for the party’s General Assembly without permission.
However, he can serve as the helm of the party youth wing, since membership of the main organisation does not require one to belong to the party.
Tynkkynen said he hoped that the party board would annul the decision to expel him. “I hope that we can continue to move forward together. Such practices cannot be used in our party,” Tynkkynen told reporters after his re-election.
