Issues related to foreigner permits currently dealt by police are likely to be handled by the Finnish Immigration Service from next year.
The government will submit a proposal before to the Parliament this spring and the change is to take effect early next year, said the Immigration Service.
According to the proposal, the police will transfer, among other things, the reception and processing of residence permits to the Immigration Service.
The same applies, for example, to citizenship applications.
