The District Court of Helsinki on Sunday ordered detention in remand of the motorcycle gang Cannonball’s leader who is suspected of nine aggravated tax fraud, reported Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV.
Five other members of the gang suspected of economic crimes were also sent to remand on Sunday. In total,15 persons in the suspected ring have been detained in remand.
According to the police, the suspects used dozens of front companies to obtain unjustified VAT refunds.
The police believe the suspects to have swindled over a million euros. The suspected crimes took place after the summer of 2014.The cases are being investigated as aggravated fraud and identity theft.
