Emergency services were alerted to the fires on Myllypadontie at around 2.30am.
All the six cars were burned beyond salvation.
According to the rescue department station master Ilpo Lehtonen, evidence from the scene indicates that the fires were set deliberately.
The hardest hit of the burned cars was parked only three metres away from the nearest apartment building. If the fire department had arrived later, Lehtonen said, the fire might have spread to the building.
Shortly before the fires on Myllypadontie, an attempt was made to set an excavator on fire less than one kilometre from Viilarintie. Even though there were three separate ignition points, no significant damage was done to the excavator.
