A woman was found dead in water at Äänekoski area in Kitee on Saturday, said the rescue de-partment.
The victim was drowned at the beach along the Sumiaistentie.
The rescue department was alerted after a passer-by spotted a floating mass on Saturday.
It was, however, noticed by a swimmer that the floating mass was a body of a person who had drowned.
The police are continuing with the investigation.
