A 17-year-old boy was killed in a road accident in Pihtipudas along Jääkoluntie late Sunday night.
Police preliminary investigations have revealed that a 19-year-old male driver veered off the road due to a driving error and ran into trees along the side of the road.
In addition to the driver, there were four passengers, including one in the backseat who died on the scene. Two more were seriously injured and were transported in rescue helicopter for treat-ment.
The driver and the front seat passenger were not severely injured, according to the preliminary data.
The others involved are all men aged 16-20.
The speed limit at the scene of accident along the gravel road is 80 km/h. Alcohol is not suspect-ed in being a factor.
