Retail trade sales in the country’s economy grew by 1.3 per cent while the sales in total trade grew by 1.0 per cent in July since last year, according to the Statistics Finland.
 
The Statistics Finland data on ‘Turnover of Trade’ shows that sales in daily consumer goods trade grew by 2.3 per cent, in department store trade by 0.5 per cent and in wholesale trade by 1.9 per cent in last one year.
 
By contrast, motor vehicle sales went down by 4.6 per cent from one year ago.
 
In total trade, sales grew in July by 1.0 per cent on year-on-year basis.
 
The sales volume of retail trade contracted by 0.2 per cent in July and that of motor vehicle trade by 4.7 per cent from one year back.
 
By contrast, the sales volume of wholesale trade grew by 1.1 per cent from one year back, whereby the sales volume of total trade remained at the same level as in July 2012.
 
The volume index of enterprises’ sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the value index series.
 
Sales in trade industries fell in the January to July period with the exception of retail trade.
