FTimes – STT Report, Oct 23

Entrepreneurs believe the broadening of local labour agreements through legislation will create more jobs and improve employee earnings in the long term, found a survey conducted by the Federation of Finnish Enterprises.

Almost 80 percent of the respondents believe that jobs will increase and 40 percent of the respondents said employee earnings will improve through the measure.

Over half of the respondents were of the opinion that in the short term local agreements will not affect earnings.

Nine out of ten companies would like to agree on things personally with the employee in deviation of the collective bargaining agreement.

According to the survey, local labor agreements could be made more flexible in respect to working hours, holiday bonus and integration of various allowances to the total salary.

In situations where the company and the employee fail to agree, the parties will abide by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

A total of 751 member companies of the Federation of Finnish Enterprises answered the survey in September.
