The Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK) will no longer support centralised income policy solutions after April 2016, said EK Chairman Matti Alahuhta at a seminar during the September meeting. EK decided to implement the changes during a Representative Council meeting today.

According to Alahuhta, it is a strategic decision for which EK has been preparing for a long time. EK’s goal is to increase local bargaining at enterprises supported by industrial federations.

Alahuhta believes the decision is in no way tied to the current negotiating situation. EK’s aim is that the ongoing negotiations are implemented with transitional phases.

“The aim is to agree on the decrease in labour unit costs by 5 per cent with no salary increases until 2017, and then from 2018 onwards to implement the Swedish export-oriented sector wage model, in which negotiations are conducted by federations with an emphasis on benefiting companies,” Alahuhta said.
