The Transport Workers' Union (AKT) on Monday announced that it will initiate support strike measures in solidarity with Finnish Post and Logistics Union’s (PAU) programme starting again from 30 November at 6am.
The AKT said that its members will not handle incoming or outgoing Deutsche Post DHL Group (DHL) units in Hamina-Kotka, Helsinki, Hanko, Turku, Naantali and Rauma ports.
The union said the support measures will be in force until further notice.
A number of trade union representatives gathered on Monday to discuss how they could support the striking postal workers.
The chair of PAU, Heidi Nieminen said a number of unions had pledged to support the postal union.
According to Nieminen, the measures are aimed at the national postal corporation and the Service Sector Employers' Association (Palta).
PAU has sought support from all members under the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK).
National Conciliator Minna Helle on Monday described that postal labour dispute as very difficult. Negotiations held on money between Helle and the disputing parries did not achieve any significant progress.
The parties are scheduled to continue with negotiations today.
