Sipilä, also the chairman of Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party), at a party council in Mikkeli said the labour dispute is between the employers and the employees.
Sipilä expressed the hope that the parties will get back to the negotiation table as soon as possible.
“In this [economic] situation, we should try all the means to avoid being on strike for a long time. It interferes with the society in many ways,” remarked Sipilä.
The premier believes the decision made by the postal corporation not to hire temporary workers during the strike has paved the way for negotiations and that an agreement could be reached.
