FTimes- STT Report, Nov 26

Factories in Thailand which process broiler meat imported to Europe violate labour rights, said Finnwatch, a non-governmental organisation focused on global corporate responsibility.

In a release Finnwatch said, workers indebted due to a range of recruitment fees have had their personal documentation such as passports and work permits confiscated.

Broiler meat from Thailand is sold widely in the country. In 2014, after Brazil and Germany, the third largest imports of broiler meat in Finland came from Thailand. Almost 40 percent of broiler meat exports from Thailand end up in Europe.

According to the report, most often consumers bump into broiler meat from Thailand at restaurants and cafes. Broiler meat from Thailand are used, for example, by Sodexo, S-Group, Restel chain of restaurants and Picnic.
