The chocolate giant Mars has pulled Mars, Milky Way, Snickers and other chocolate bars off the shelves in 55 countries.

The recall also applies to Finland, where Mars and Snickers bars have been removed from sale.

Detailed information on the products will be provided on Wednesday morning, as the revision of the product information will take some time, said Mars Finland Communications Officer Pirjo Kauhanen.

“The batch codes are not necessarily congruent with the codes of products for sale in Finland,” Kauhanen told the news agency STT.

The company announced the reason for the recall was a piece of plastic found in one of its products in Germany.

According to Kauhanen, the recalled products have a number of different pack sizes, both individual bars and multipacks.

The recalled products from Finland’s shelves are manufactured in Veghel, Holland. Mars has a number of factories all over Europe.

“The Finnish market also has products from other factories, and the precaution affects certain batches made in the Holland factory,” Veghel said.

Initially, the recall only applied in Germany, but in the afternoon, the company announced that the recall would affect many other countries as well.

According to information from Mars, the recall applies to products with Best Before dates June 19, 2016 to January 8, 2017.
