Nokian Tyres is facing a class action lawsuit due to fraudulent test results.

The Turre Legal law firm is running the lawsuit for consumers or companies who have purchased Nokian Tyres from Finland for passenger cars or vans since 2006.

A receipt or other proof of purchase is necessary to join the lawsuit, the law farm Turre Legal said in a statement.

Turre Legal plaintiff representative Herkko Hietanen estimated that buyers of a set of tyres could receive up to a 30 per cent reduction in price, yielding up to 400 euros per set.

Hietanen told the news agency STT that the online application has only been available since Wednesday morning, so there is no immediate information on how many consumers or companies are interested in joining the action.

“At the moment, we do not have any plaintiff. However, Nokian Tyres is the market leader in Finland and sells hundreds of thousands of tyres, so this applies to quite many people,” Hietanen said on Wednesday morning.

Joining the class action is free of charge to consumers, but a third of all reparations go to the law firm.

Nokian Tyres announced on Monday that it sees no grounds for indemnity from its customers.
