Finland, along with two other nations, tops the perceived list of least corrupt countries across the globe, a latest global survey said.

Transparency International, a Berlin-based graft watchdog, in its 2012 corruption perception Index put Denmark and New Zealand at the top of the list while Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia on the bottom perceived to be the most corrupt.
Among the European Union nations, Greece, which fell from its 84th place to 94th thanks to the country's continuing economic turmoil and widespread tax evasion, is perceived to be the most corrupt public sector in all 27 EU countries.

Transparency International prepared the survey report on the basis of views on 176 countries worldwide.
The United Kingdom ranked 17th in the world while Italy at 72nd, below Romania, a newcomer in the EU, at 66 in the index.

"Governments need to integrate anti-corruption actions into all public decision-making", said Huguette Labelle, chair of Transparency International, releasing the report on Wednesday.
"Priorities include better rules on lobbying and political financing, making public spending and contracting more transparent and making public bodies more accountable to people."

The anti-graft campaigning body established in 1993 to expose and tackle countrywide corruption, believes there are strong correlations between poverty, conflict and perceived levels of corruption.
