The majority of the Finnish people have been observed to have a lot of confidence and trust in the institution of presidency, according to a recent survey.

In the survey on The Foundation for Municipal Development conducted by TNS Gallup, 70 per cent of the respondents expressed their trust on the president as both institution and person.

More than half of the respondents, nearly 54 per cent, also had trust on the media while the respondents had least confidence in the opposition parties, said the survey report.

The survey was conducted to establish the level of confidence the citizens had in eight different important institutions.

More than 1000 people were interviewed for the survey conducted in December, 2013.

The margin of error of the survey was estimated +3/-3 per cent.
