A woman was reportedly strangulated to death at Kajaani on Saturday night.
Police arrested one person suspected of strangulating the woman and leaving her unconscious in Hetteenmäki neighbourhood.
Police sources said the suspect, a 54-year-old man, was arrested from Paltamo on Sunday noon.
He is reported to have resisted police attempt to arrest him.
The police are investigating the incident as an aggravated assault.
