A number of sheep estimated to be in the dozens were found dead among a flock of living sheep in Hämeenlinna on Monday.
 
The exact number of the dead sheep could not be verified because some had already been buried and decayed.
 
The sheep farm had a total of about 40 sheep according to the evaluation of  police iinspector Ilkka Iivari of the  Häme Police Department. 
 
The remaining found 27 sheep were slaughtered.The sheep were malnourished and had lost wool on areas of their bodies.
 
The sheep were owned by a 50  year old woman.The woman is suspected of committing crime against animal welfare.
 
The police still do not know why the sheep were left without proper care.The woman has so far been question in relation to the incident.2
