The police are going to enhance monitoring of pedestrian crossing points from the beginning of this week.
 
According to the police, special attention would be paid to motorists who bypass vehicles that have stopped on pedestrian crossing or bypass trams. Such motorists pose serious danger to the safety of pedestrian crossing. 
 
The police confirmed that they could impose driving ban on drivers who override the spots.
 
An average of 10 to 15 pedestrians dies annually from accidents at pedestrian crossing points in the country.
 
Last year, more than 1,000 accidents took place at pedestrian crossings, in which over 500 cases resulted in personal injuries.
