The intelligence service Supo is conducting an investigation into a suspected Finnish woman posting threats on the social media site Facebook.

The threats made by the woman were hurled toward the Islamic sect of Shia.

The woman is seen in a photo posted on Facebook brandishing an assault rifle and what appears to be a bomb.

Senior Inspector Tuomas Portaankorva confirmed that Supo is aware of the threat and an investigation is underway.

Portaankorva said the matter is being taken very seriously.

Although rants made on the internet normally stay on the internet, but the police inspector said the matter will still be investigated very carefully.

Portaankorva said the threats will be assessed further, when there will be more information.

He said similar rants and hate speech have been identified in recent years symbolising different ideologies.
