A total of 15,740 people immigrated to Finland from abroad and 7,370 emigrated from the country during the January-July period, according to the preliminary statistics of Statistics Finland. 
 
The number of immigrants was 1,660 lower and the number of emigrants 210 higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, the data show. 
 
In all, 4,770 of the immigrants and 4,750 of the emigrants were Finnish citizens.
 
During the January-July period, 33,720 children were born, which is 520 children fewer than in the corresponding period of 2013. 
 
The number of deaths was 30,420, which is 60 lower than one year earlier.
 
The number of inter-municipal migrations, according to the data, totalled 140,170 over the period. 
 
Compared with the previous January-July period, the decrease was of 2,260 migrations, according to the municipal division of 2014.
