Sat, 30 Aug, 2014 02:01:17 AM Delays in construction of swimming pool FTimes-STT Report, August 30
The Southwest Finland District Court ruled that both the parties involved in a dispute should compensate each other.
The two parties, the municipality of Somero and a construction company, Rakennusliike Kerroskivi, had sued each other for lack of cooperation, each of them demanding a million euros in compensation.
The company was contracted by the municipality in 2010 to construct a swimming pool but the two parties disputed because of delays as well as other reasons.
Following the dispute, the municipality terminated the contract in spring of 2011.
The construction company deemed the cancellation of the contract unfounded.
The court ruled that the municipality was entitled to terminate the contract. At the same time, the construction company was entitled to unpaid instalments agreed beforehand.
The district court ruled that Rakennusliike Kerroskivi should pay the municipality 1,706,145 euros and the municipality should pay the company 1,023,379 euros.
