The chairperson of the board of Finavia, a state-owned company which maintains a network of airports and air navigation system, is reportedly faced with questions for recruiting her godson in the company.
Transport and Local Government minister Paula Risikko on Saturday said the issue was taken into consideration and will be examined soon.
Earlier, the Finnish language evening tabloid Iltalehti reported that Finavia Board Chaiperson Soili Suonoja would have provided her godson with a job in the company.
The newspaper in the past also made report on the recruitment of Suonoja’s daughter by Finavia.
Speaking on the issue, Risikko said she had already received official reports on the recruitment of Suonoja’s daughter from both Finavia and its chair, adding that information about the recruitment of his godson will be asked for soon.
“The recruitment process will be examined to see how it has taken place,” said Risikko, adding that the matter will be reviewed as soon as early next week.
She said the authorities concerned had already decided to ask for more information next week in this regard. She expects to get the new report soon.
The minister, however, did not make any direct comment on the activities of the Finavia boss.
“It does not look good, even if there is a slightest suspicion. But first the fact should be found out, before being too hasty,” she remarked.
